I went for the KTPH volunteer's orientation today. I am VERY impressed with KTPH!We had the customary introduction, a general talk by the corp comm lady about the hospital, a talk by ICs of the various activities and a tour about the hospital. I had already had a brief stroll about the area previously since i arrived early and i was like WHOA because it had a really open-air concept with super lots of greenery, which made me feel good and happy and it was helpful visual therapy too! During the tour, i learnt that KTPH was very patient-centric. They seriously put a lot of thought and effort into the design to make it a hassle-free experience as Minister Khaw wanted it to be. For example, there is a separate lift for patients pushed around in beds and visitors because this grants the patients more privacy. The A class ward was also so cool! They wanted it to resemble a hotel room rather than a hospital ward, and they also purchased clocks which don't go tick-tock because it can get very annoying and cause anxiety to the patient especially when the room is quiet. There was also a very cool feature! The lunch incubator trolley is brought in by a robot, which parks the trolley at a designated area and makes its own way out!:O
In short, i'm very impressed with KTPH and feel confident of the direction in which healthcare in Singapore is headed (minus the cost), and if i do become a doctor, KTPH will be my first choice :)
